NORA CATE SCHAEFFER is Sewell Bascom professor of sociology in the Department of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and faculty director of the University of Wisconsin Survey Center, where she teaches courses in survey research methods and conducts research on questionnaire design and interaction during survey interviews. She serves on the editorial boards of Sociological Methods and Research and Public Opinion Quarterly, and is also a member of the General Social Survey Board of Overseers.
