... 72 Chapter 8 Potential Future Research Ferric oxide is a promising treatment media for highway runoff treatment and the results of this study suggest that additional investigation is warranted. Potential future studies include the following:  Evaluation of different ferric oxide media in a full scale treatment system, including: o Iron mining tailings which have residual ferric oxide or elemental ion o Ferrihydrite o Granular ferric oxide o Several different zero valent iron materials that will be parent material for ferric oxide.
