Below is the uncorrected machine-read text of this chapter, intended to provide our own search engines and external engines with highly rich, chapter-representative searchable text of each book. Because it is UNCORRECTED material, please consider the following text as a useful but insufficient proxy for the authoritative book pages.

46 Appendix A: Visual Research Roadmap The interactive version of the Research Roadmap for Airport Administration and HR is available online at: https://public.tableau.com/profile/jay5585#!/vizhome/ACRPResearchRoadmaponAdministration andHumanResources/ACRPResearchRoadmaponAdministrationandHumanResources A static version of the research roadmap is provided below. The online version of the roadmap has the following functionality:  High-level themes are represented by icons on the left-hand side of the roadmap. Each row of the roadmap refers to a specific high-level theme.  Sub-topics are represented by different colored icons. Clicking on one of the sub-topics will display only the research ideas related to that sub-topic.  The relative importance of each research idea is identified by the size of the icon (i.e. larger icons were identified as more important research for airport administration and HR).  The proposed timeline for the research is displayed on the bottom axis, with more pressing or proximal research ideas (i.e., ideas for which the results would be relevant sooner) presented to the left-hand side of the roadmap and more distal research ideas presented to the right.  Hovering over an icon brings up a box that displays the research idea, objective, and related background information.

The administration and human resources functions within an airport can experience great challenges as airports grow, diversify, experience changing priorities, bring in new technologies, or change in other ways.

The TRB Airport Cooperative Research Program's ACRP Web-Only Document 49: Research Roadmap on Airport Administration & Human Resource Issues recommends priorities and timing, sets a research strategy, and provides a rationale for the research recommendations.

Supplemental materials with this report include a Visual Research Roadmap and a Microsoft Excel-based Research Idea Database.
